Humor is a defense mechanism. That’s what people don’t understand, like when people get offended, when a tragedy happens, and comedians make jokes about it, it’s a form of coping with it. I’ll start to get a bad feeling, and to deal with that tension I’ll make a joke about it.

People have every right to take a comedian seriously. If they want to take a comedian seriously, that's okay. But just because you take something I said seriously, that doesn't now mean that I meant it. You know? I'm still joking around. So, I learned a long time ago, you can't control how somebody processes what you say. It's going into their brain that has all their life experiences.
